Mwamba (means gold pipe and respected elder in Swahili) is a "spin out" of Savannah Diamonds. Its current thrust is gold, base metals and uranium prospecting. Work is being carried out principally in areas where Savannah Diamonds is currently active or has been in the past. but which are believed to be underexplored in terms of the company's targeted minerals. Ground of interest is identified by synthesising desktop studies of previous work and reports, geophysical coverage, metallogenic modelling and the interpretation of geological structures.
New areas of mafic occurrences have been identified, some of which contain disseminated sulphides. Structures similar in orientation and extent to those mapped in the Lake Victoria Gold Belt are readily interpreted from the geophysical data. Discrete gold particles have also been recovered from two sites some 40-70 km distant from known gold occurrences.
