Tunya Mining is a precious, base metal and agri mineral
explorer in Zambia. Under a joint venture with Zambia Gold Mines
Limited, it holds three Prospecting Licenses in the central-south of the country
covering approximately 2500 sq km in total area. Fieldwork to date has
focused on stream sediment, rock chip and geochemical sampling in these licenses,
principally in the search for gold. To date, over 1250 stream samples
have been collected, supplemented by approximately 90 rock samples and 270
closely-spaced geochemical samples in an area of elevated interest.
In
addition to a historically worked gold and bismuth mine, the southern most license
contains four mapped carbonatites which have seen limited exploration and have
significant potential for phosphate, uranium, zircon, rare earths and
gold. At least one of the carbonatites has a strongly developed laterite
profile similar to the concentrating mechanism for several metallic elements
exhibited by similar Brazilian occurrences.
Exploration
plans include detailed mapping and sampling of the four carbonatites as well as
sampling the streams draining these bodies to establish potential for economic
mineralisation.
