Firefly Aviation is a Calgary, Alberta based company providing fixed wing
airborne geophysical survey services to the international mineral and oil &
gas industries. The company operates three Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft,
specially modified and configured for High Resolution Airborne Magnetic
Surveys.
The company was founded in the mid 1990's by its sole
owner Bruce Evans, a professional geologist and commercial pilot, who had
identified a niche for an innovative and cost effective solution for large
scale airborne geophysical surveys in challenging geopolitical
locations. At the time Allan was looking for a cost effective
service provider that could dedicate the time and resources necessary to
complete a technically challenging, multi year, survey of the extensive mineral
rights he had secured from the Sierra Leone Government for African Minerals Ltd. (AIM: AMI). Their collaboration lead to Firefly completing approximately
350,000 line kilometres of survey in Sierra Leone over 3 years making a major
contribution to the success of African Minerals.
Firefly continues to be a preferred supplier of airborne
survey solutions to Clarity Minerals.
