Zambia is a
landlocked country in central-southern Africa,
encompassing some 750,000 sq km, of which 11,500 sq km is occupied by lakes.
It has a population of just over 11 million people and a 2008 GDP of US$1,400
per person. 85% of 5 million strong workforce are engaged in agriculture.
A multi-party
democracy since 1991, Zambia
has been a mining country for over 90 years.
Its historical association has been principally with copper, although
numerous other metals and minerals exist in its complex geological terrains.
Although over
80% of the country has been geologically mapped, little published information is
available and most of what can be accessed deals with the famous "Copper belt". Modern mineral exploration holds high
potential for the discovery new mines.
Zambia's renaissance
in the last decade, coupled with transparent legislation and favourable geology,
has led Clarity to invest in yet another of eastern Africa's
under-explored but significant areas of minerals potential.
