Paul Matthews
Paul Matthews joined Clarity in February 2008, moving to Namibia to provide services to Desert Minerals and Clarity.
UK-born, Paul emigrated to South Africa on graduation from Southampton University (BSc Honours Geology) in 1990. He then spent 11 years with Anglo American where he gained wide experience in the minerals exploration and mining industry, followed by three years as a mine geologist on the Witwatersrand Goldfields at Welkom.
Paul moved to Tanzania in 1996 where he managed the exploration and pre-feasibility study of the Nyamulilima Hill gold deposit in the Lake Victoria Goldfields. The deposit is now being mined by AnglogoldAshanti. Paul joined the mineral resource evaluation team at Anglo American head office in Johannesburg in 1999 and left the company in late 2001. Paul then worked as a contractor for Anglo American for 6 months at one of their base metal projects in West Africa.
In mid 2002, Paul and his wife took a career break for one year and travelled by bicycle from the UK to Ethiopia before moving to New Zealand.
Paul joined Kenex in Wellington in mid 2003 and became a partner in the business in mid 2004. With Kenex Paul worked on GIS data compilation and exploration targeting, exploration management, 3D modelling and resource estimation for a number of clients in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and Africa.
