Richard has extensive entrepreneurial experience in many businesses,
including the oil field service sector. After joining Clarity in 2003, Richard worked in Sierra Leone on the African Minerals Limited team, establishing operations and assisting on the admission to the London Stock Exchange
Richard
graduated from the University
of Calgary in 1980 with a
Bachelor of Commerce degree and received his Certified Management Accountant
(CMA) designation in 1983. He was a senior officer of privately
held Big D Rentals and Sales (1981) Ltd. an oilfield rental company from 1980
to 1994 ,where he was responsible for all accounting, financial and strategic
matters. In 1994, he founded TSE listed Inter-Tech Drilling Solutions
Ltd., successfully introducing underbalanced drilling technology into domestic
and international markets before its acquisition by Precision Drilling
Corporation in 1998. From 1998 to 2001 he held senior line and corporate
management positions with Precision Drilling, including Vice President and
General Manger of wholly owned Northland Energy Corporation and Director,
Strategic Communications.
Richard
lead the acquisition of Inter-Tech's technology, arranged first rounds of
financing through to and including the structuring and closing of its public
offering in July of 1996 and subsequent listing on The Toronto Stock
Exchange. Precision Drilling Corporation (NYSE), the largest contract
driller in North America, acquired Inter-Tech
in June of 1998 in a $ 38 Million transaction engineered and consummated by
Richard and his team.
